Public Art

All I Want / Kaikki mitä tahdon (2024)

My first public work is finished to the Lagmansgården reform school in Pietarsaari, Finland.

The work commissioned by the State Art Commission, Kaikki mitä tahdon (2024), completed in Pietarsaari, is a set of works placed in different rooms of the Lagmansgården school, with the theme of birds and the world of basketball. In the technique characteristic of artist Camilla Vuorenmaa, the images are created by engraving and painting on multi-part wooden panels.

Kaikki mitä tahdon consists of six separate parts, which function both as separate works and as a unified whole. Representational elements with a basketball theme are hidden inside the abstract works, and the form shows a paper bird – a messenger and a symbol of freedom. In the background, the colors of sportswear and the sense of movement that refer to basketball are influential in all parts.

The Lagmansgården reform school, designed by AOA - Anttinen Oiva architects, was equipped with spaces for students and staff in accordance with the school concept, such as learning spaces, accommodation spaces, and hobby and recreation spaces. Special attention has been paid to safety and therapeutics in the design of the building. The goal is to create supportive, healthy and safe spaces for students and staff.

Thank you Valtion Taideteostoimikunta at the Finnish National Gallery and partners AOA architects, Senaatti kiinteistöt, Valtion koulukodit and assistant visual artist Lea Lintula and carpenter Markku Lyytinen/ Juuripuu .
